Stamina® once again provides their well-known quality and durability in the Conversion II® Recumbent Bike/Rower. This machine provides the exercises of a whole gym into one price. You get a recumbent bike, a rowing machine and an exercise pulley in one piece of exercise equipment. Stamina® built this machine with the user in mind from its innovative design, to its simple assembly process and its space saving storage.

The best thing about the Stamina Conversion II Recumbent Bike/Rower is obvious; you get two pieces of exercise equipment for one price. Even more though is that you're actually getting three. In addition to the ability to have a recumbent bike and rower, you are also getting a fully functional exercise pulley. A lot of exercise machines claim a full body workout, but the Conversion II Recumbent Bike/Rower delivers this promise.

With these three options, you can work every single muscle group and have a plethora of exercises to keep you motivated for a long time.

Note, the very similar Stamina “Avari” Recumbent/Rower A150-335 is a bit cheaper than this hybrid machine but doesn%u2019t include the exercise pulley functionality.

Stamina's steel and aluminum design provides durability while using the Conversion II Recumbent Bike/Rower in any of its functions. The extruded aluminum rowing beam ensures stability in any of the exercises. It also has a low center of gravity to keep it grounded and in place during your most intense workouts. Stamina®, as always, provides superior quality in their exercise equipment to ensure you will have a great rower for a long time.

Stamina designed this machine with the user in mind from start to finish. While assembling the Stamina Conversion II Recumbent Bike/Rower may take a little time, it is extremely easy. The machine arrives with a fully illustrated assembly manual to walk you through the process step-by-step. When you completed one of your many, many exercises, the Conversion II® Recumbent Bike/Rower easily folds up and can be transported on its casters out of the way.

It's ideal for anyone looking to save space.

If the most obvious advantage of the Stamina® Conversion II® Recumbent Bike/Rower is its 3-in-1 design, then its biggest drawback is the same. When you're packing a lot into one machine, it's hard to get each one to be the top of the line.

Features like programmed workouts, connectivity to iPods® and computers to utilize even more exercise routines, and downloading to track your progress from workout to workout are great motivators for workouts. This machine's computer lacks most of those fancy features. The monitor on this machine is pretty basic covering mainly your current exercise statistics. That said, if you're serious about getting in shape, Conversion II's multi-functionality will keep you going.

One final drawback that has been cited for the Conversion II® Recumbent Bike/Rower was the comfort of the seat. Some users report that the seat took some getting used to.

With this machine you are practically getting an entire home gym with three distinct pieces of exercise equipment. You will be able to perform a ton of exercises and work out most every muscle group on your body. However, while this machine is a jack-of-all-trades, it is a master of none. It's a trade off.

User Reviews

Review 1

My review will only cover the actual product as it was quite a bear to actually get the item to my house. This was not the fault of the seller, so they should not be punished for a mistake in shipping.

Packaging: packed very well and had zero broken or missing parts. A big concern prior to purchase was how the bike was packaged as many other reviewers reported broken or missing parts. I am happy to say it arrived very quickly after the shipping error was remedied, and was packed very well. It comes in a brown box, about the size of a small coffee table. The box was printed with a description and picture of the item, but as this was not a gift, I was not concerned with it being open. The box is quite heavy at roughly 100 lbs, so having a second person to assist with bringing it into the assembly area would be a great idea.

Unpacking: everything was very well packed and protected inside the box. There was a lot of Styrofoam, plastic baggies, and flexible padding to get through. The instructions were pretty clear (for me, at least), and I was able to lay out everything to get ready for assembly.

Assembly: the box does contain some tools needed for assembly, but other tools from a personal stash are recommended since the tools provided are meant to be temporary. Allen wrenches, screw drivers, regular wrenches, and a small hammer were what I needed to complete the assembly. All told, the assembly took me about an hour once I unpacked everything. The length of time was partly my fault because I made a wrong turn when putting together the seat. The instructions are a fair representation of accurate assembly, especially once I got the hang of them.

Use: So far, so good. We have had the product for a few months now and it has held up very well. I have put a few hundred miles on the bike/rower and there have been zero malfunctions. The resistance is good for what we need it for and after a few months, I'm only using level 6 and 7 out of 10. The seat extends far enough to be comfortable for a person who is 6'5″ tall (me) and is able to be used by a person who is 5'2″ (wife) with no issues. The machine is very quiet and we are able to use it while watching TV without it being very loud at all.

Cons: I have very large feet and this is not great for this machine for two reasons. 1. When using the bike portion, I have to make sure my feet are snugly fit into the bike pedals or they will bump into the foot holds for the rower. Anyone with size 14 or greater shoe size may have an issue with this if they're not careful. 2. When using the rower, my feet extend above the molded plastic holders and routinely slip out of the back heel stop, which cause my entire shoe to come loose. It makes me have to stop the rowing motion to re-strap my foot and is quite annoying at times, especially when in rhythm. If I strap in tight enough, I can get by, but it's not ideal. If the rower foot holds were better suited to hold large feet, I would absolutely give a 5 star rating.

Review 2

I received the Stamina rower/bike a few months ago. I wanted to use it for a while before I wrote a review, so I could comment on durability.
Overall, I am very pleased. It is constructed well and it's very smooth.
It is an excellent value, considering you get an exercise rower and a recumbent exercise bike in one.

My rower/bike arrived in perfect condition. There was absolutely no damage from shipping.
It was fairly simple to assemble, and using my own tools made it even easier. It comes with a set of rudimentary tools that will do the job, but it just takes longer.
*A note on assembly: Some of the bolts and screws are pre-installed on the unit and are not included in the bag. During assembly, if you think you are missing a bolt, look on the unit, it's probably already in place.

I read some reviews stating the resistance was too light. Well, it might be a mechanical issue or something else with individual units , but for moderate exercise, there is plenty of resistance. On the rower, I can get a good workout starting at level 4 and ending at level 6 or 7.
On the bike, I start at level 3 and work my way up to level 5 or 6.
I'm sure over the next few months I'll be using level 8 at some point, but I haven't needed to 'max' it out yet.

The monitor is nice and I like the fact that it is built-in and doesn't sit on top like the less expensive model.
It has time elapsed, distance, rpm, calories burned, and heart rate. (the heart rate feature only registers while holding the hand grips for the bike, so it won't register if you are rowing)

The rower is very smooth and the motion feels natural.
The bike is also quite smooth and the recumbent position is comfortable.
I can really work up quite a sweat and get a great workout without leaving the house.

Now for the reason I only gave four stars, which was also mentioned in other reviews: The foot rests for the rower. They are the only drawback for an otherwise superb machine.
They simply don't hold your feet securely enough. My size 12 EEE's keep slipping out. No matter how tight I make the strap. So, what happens is it 1) affects concentration and 2)by holding my feet so they won't slip, after 30 mins. it's very painful.

So, here's my remedy:
I went to Walmart and bought a cheap pair of sneakers ($20) and an assorted package of bolts, nuts, and washers ($5)
I removed the foot rests for the rower.
I removed the insoles from the sneakers.
I held the sneaker in the same position as it would be while rowing.
I drilled 4 1/4″holes through the sneaker and through the foot rest.
I then pushed the bolt through the sneaker and the foot rest, (placing a washer on the bolt first) then popped on the nut and tightened all four bolts.
I used threadlock on the nuts so vibration/movement wouldn't loosen them.
I slipped the insoles back in the sneakers and reinstalled the sneaker/footrest combo.

It is now PERFECT.

Review 3

I originally bought this for myself, but as soon as it arrived, my 15 year-old son put it together and used it. My husband also uses it. Except for the creak of the seat, it is very quiet. We can now watch TV while exercising. I had been looking at rowing machines to round out my workout as I also use free weights and my bike trainer. The recumbent bike is so much quiter than our bike trainers, that we might get rid of them and regain some space in the basement. It is very sturdy and easy to switch between biking and rowing.

The only thing that I would caution is that if you are looking for exact stats on your workout, you will need to purchase a heart rate monitor. The calculation for calories burned is complex and the machine does not caputure all of the data necessary to make a correct calculation. I wore my old Impulse 12 chest band and my new Fitbit wrist monitor to compare to the machine. The Impulse and the Fitbit were close in stats. The Stamina machine was a couple hunderd calories high.

Review 4

The Stamina 15-9003 arrived within 3 days. The manufacturer preassemblies a number of larger assemblies so the at-home set up is easy. Inventory the parts, and the follow the instructions – it will take about 45 minutes to complete.

The machine is very quiet. The seat slides smoothly when rowing, and is easily adjusted into several fixed positions for the recumbent bike. Although the resistance at the highest level will not be what you experience at a gym, it is more than sufficient for a home workout. You will feel the burn! It folds/stands up easily and can be quickly moved out of the way when not in use.

I've just started using the machine, but am happy with what I've experienced so far. Its a great purchase for the money spent.

Conclusion

The Stamina Conversion II Recumbent Exercise Bike/Rower is the ultimate all-in-one solution for getting a great full-body workout. Best of all, both exercises are super easy on the joints. You'll feel less pain and more satisfaction in building the body you desire.
