What is AndroGel?

AndroGel is a popular testosterone gel. It basically works by replacing or supplementing the testosterone level of the human body and helps in alleviating several physical and mental issues in men caused due to low levels of testosterone. AndroGel must not be used by a woman, it is strictly for men, the main reason – testosterone can cause birth defects in an unborn baby, that is why, the use of AndroGel is strictly prohibited for women.

Especially, pregnant women must avoid it and should avoid any contact of AndroGel, by any chance, if women’s skin get contacted with AndroGel, the area must me cleaned using soap and plain water right away to remove its possible side effects.

Topical testosterone is absorbed through human skin and improper use can cause serious side effects. If kids and women who come into the contact of AndroGel they can develop male features in their body; it is suggested that, if accidentally, it comes in contact with any kid or woman, contact with doctor immediately.

Usually, the following side effects caused by AndroGel – enlarged genitals, premature pubic hair, increased libido, aggressive behavior, male-pattern baldness, excessive body hair growth, increased acne, irregular menstrual periods, or any other signs of male features.

Before using AndroGel

Before using it, make sure that, you’re not allergic to testosterone patches or gel, alternatively make sure that, you must not have prostate cancer or male breast cancer. If you have any of them, DON’T use it. Additionally, if you have any of the following problems, then you must adjust the dosage and if necessary, do some special tests –

– Diabetes
– Sleep apnea or chronic breathing problems
– Liver problems
– Kidney related problems or
– If you’re suffering with obesity

AndroGel is an FDA pregnancy category X marked drug and it must not be used by a woman, testosterone can cause birth defects to an unborn baby, that is why, it is strongly encouraged that, pregnant women should avoid it seriously.

Apart from them, it is also recommended that, senior citizens who already cross 65 years must consult with their physicians before using AndroGel and, if you’re suffering from prostate cancer, then you should avoid it. It might also be dangerous for people under 18 years.

How do I use AndroGel ?

AndroGel is a special category drug and must be used under supervision of a qualified doctor and the doctors must mention the dosages of the AndroGel. You must not self medicate with it!

Never use it in with larger amounts or never use it if your doctor does not prescribe it. However, for better understandings, the manufacturers also print the dosage and other necessary details on its label for safe and effective use, still it is recommended that, you must use it under proper supervision.

Apply AndroGel regularly in at the same time of the day, preferably in morning to clean, dry unbroken skin right on your shoulder or upper arms, NEVER use AndroGel on your penis or your scrotum.

Open the gel pouch and squeeze the content on your palm (according to the prescription/or mentioned dosage by a doctor) and apply the gel right away and keep it dry for at least 5 minutes before you dress and then wash your hand with soap and plain water. For best results and security, you must cover the treatment area with clothes, so that, no one get contacted with the gel.

However, it is possible that, some tests including blood and liver function can be required during the treatment. That is why; you must contact with your doctor during the treatment period.
